Affective positioning in hyper-mourning: sharers as tellers, co-tellers and witnesses

Abstract In an age of social and digital media, users’ engagements with (social) media related to death, dying mourning vary widely across different cultural contexts changing platforms. Based on the discussion selected examples, I illustrate how vary, depending narrative positions that sharers take up as tellers , co-tellers or witnesses shared stories. As will argue, potential limits such can be better understood in context three over-arching, dynamic modes practices hyper-mourning, namely entrepreneurial, connective activist . These are associated distinct types affective for sharers, audiences displays affect, forming basis projecting participants’ identity claims.
